Daily Case Priorities Digest for Lawyers
Attorneys start the day with no single view of what matters. This workflow emails a daily digest of priorities, follow-ups, and deadlines in one place. It is a lite preview of the LegalContext Morning Digest. Free n8n workflow, yours to keep.
Import it into n8n
- The button above downloads the workflow as a .json file — that is the whole download.
- In n8n, open the workflows list, choose Import from File, and select the file you just downloaded.
- Open each node flagged with a warning and connect your own credentials — none of ours are in the file.
- Run it once manually before you activate it, and check the output is what you expect.
How it works
- Runs every day at 7am on a schedule trigger.
- Fetches pending tasks, upcoming calendar entries within a configurable follow-up window, and the firm’s user directory from the Clio API.
- Filters and sorts tasks by due date and filters and sorts calendar entries by start time.
- Merges tasks and calendar entries, then groups them by attorney email into overdue priorities, this-week follow-ups, and upcoming deadlines.
- If there are any grouped items, creates one styled HTML email per attorney and includes both HTML and plain-text versions.
- Logs each email send by calling a separate n8n workflow, then sends the digest to each attorney via SMTP.
Compliance: never touches your legal work
This automation only handles operational steps — sending, routing, and moving data. It doesn’t draft, analyze, or make any legal judgment, consistent with ABA Opinion 512.

Frequently asked
What platform does this run on?
It runs on n8n, a free open-source automation tool you host yourself. Import one workflow file and connect your data sources. Nothing is locked to us.
What goes into the digest?
Whatever you connect: upcoming deadlines from a sheet or calendar, follow-ups, and priority flags. The lite version keeps it simple by design.
How is this different from LegalContext?
This is a lite, self-hosted preview. LegalContext is our full operations assistant that reads across your systems and prioritizes automatically. Start here, upgrade when you want the whole picture.
Is a daily digest compliant?
Yes. It summarizes operational items you already track. It never gives legal advice or analyzes the substance of a matter. It is a scheduling and priorities view.
Want the version built for your firm?
Done-for-You Build.
The free digest gives you a daily snapshot. When you want it reading across every system with real prioritization, that is LegalContext, our operations assistant built for solo attorneys. This lite version is the on-ramp.
